Safety Equipment You Need for an Electric Ride-On

Safety Equipment You Need for an Electric Ride-On

When it comes to our kids, safety is our number one priority. It doesn’t matter what they’re doing—we just want them to be safe. Even though our high-end ride-on toys are quite luxurious, that doesn’t mean your child can’t crash while riding one. That means there’s certain safety equipment you need for an electric ride-on before you let your kid ride it for the first time. Here’s what you should get them.

Sturdy Helmet

Like with all ridable children’s toys, make sure they’re wearing a helmet at all times. A child’s skull is still quite fragile, so a helmet is a must to ensure that they don’t severely damage their heads. Wait until they’re older before you finally let them stop wearing a helmet.

Built-In Seatbelt

Almost all electric ride-ons these days come with a seat belt built-in, but if yours doesn’t, put one in. Even though these toys don’t go very fast, you won’t want your child to get ejected from their seat in the event of a crash. Plus, this will help teach them the value of seatbelts at a young age. That way, they will know to always wear it in a real car.

Elbow Pads

Even though your child won’t get thrown from the vehicle due to their seatbelt, make sure they have some elbow pads. If the car falls over, they’ll land on their side, so these guards will ease the severity of the impact. Since they’ll be strapped into the car, they likely won’t need knee pads.

Full Arm Protection

If you want to protect your child’s arms from potential cuts and scrapes, make sure they wear a long-sleeved shirt when riding. For even more protection, get them some gloves—but they won’t be moving fast enough to scar themselves up, so both of these aren’t as necessary.

Parental Remote

In the end, the best way to not get hurt is to never get in a crash in the first place. That’s why the final piece of safety equipment you need for an electric ride-on is a parental remote. Most of our ride-on toys come with these. They allow you to control the car from a distance. No longer will you need to chase your kid down to stop them from driving out into the street. Instead, you’ll be able to do that while seated on the porch.
