A Guide To the Different Types of Kids’ Ride-On Vehicles

So, you want to buy your child a ride-on toy, but you’re unsure of which kind to get them? Well, you’re in luck. Today, we’ve decided to take the time to put together a guide to the different types of kids’ ride-on vehicles. We’ll go over which ones are best for specific age ranges and what they offer for you and your kid.

Push/Pull Ride-Ons

Let’s start with the category of ride-ons that are best for babies and toddlers. These are the ones that need to be pushed or pulled by an adult. Inclusions in this group are wagons, toy cars with handles, and technically, baby strollers as well. While many people wouldn’t consider that last one to be a toy, they can still be fun for kids and still follow the guidelines of this group.

Regardless, all of these offer you a way to transport your kids without having to carry them or have them keep up on foot. Depending on their features, they can be a lot of fun for your child even though they have no control over where they are going.

Pedal Ride-Ons

Now, if your child is old enough to be trusted with having control, it might be time to upgrade them to a ride-on with steering controls and pedals. While bikes are the obvious inclusion here, scooters and toy cars that kids push with their feet can be added to this list as well. All these choices can be great fun for your kids and can only move as quickly as your child can move them, making them a safe choice no matter the age.

Electronic Ride-Ons

Now it’s time for the most intriguing choice in our guide to the different types of kids’ ride-on vehicles: electronic ride-ons. Even though these have been around for the last 30 years or so, they haven’t gotten super popular more recently. Of course, electric cars are the most well-known choice here, but electric bikes and scooters are also starting to gain popularity.

If your kid is still young, you’ll want to get them a low voltage model, but if you think they can handle higher speeds, you can upgrade them to ones with high amounts of voltage. High-powered vehicles are also good if you feel your child will often drive through the grass with this car. Our line of off-road ride-on toys will be a perfect fit for those who are a bit more adventurous.

In the end, only you can know which type will be the best fit for your child. However, we hope our list has helped you come to that decision more easily.
