Exciting Outdoor Activities To Get Kids Out of the House

Due to the global pandemic, many of us have not been planning outdoor activities for our kids as often as we used to. While that was a completely understandable reason last summer, this year will be more open due to vaccinations and fewer government restrictions. However, since it’s been a while, most kids will likely be a little stubborn about going outside. That’s why we’re giving you our list of exciting outdoor activities to get kids out of the house.

Set Up a Pool Party

By far the easiest way to convince your kids to spend some time outside is to take them swimming. Since public pools still might not be the safest option, our outdoor activity idea for your kids is to set up a pool party with some neighborhood friends. If none of you have a backyard pool, you can still pull out some blowup pools, slip-n-slides, and sprinklers. That way, the kids still have a great way to have fun while staying cool in the summer heat.

Go on a Family Walk

Going on a bike ride or a run together as a family are both great ways to get outside and get some exercise, but if you have younger kids, neither of these are really an option. That’s why we recommend a walk. They are much easier to do together, and you won’t have to worry about anybody getting too tired after the first 10 minutes.

If you have a kid who is too young to walk, there are plenty of children’s outdoor ride-on toys available that allow them to come along. While most people tend to think of wagons for this, push cars are a much more enjoyable option for kids. Your child can get the sensation of driving while being safely controlled by you. If you’re interested, we have a slick Mercedes push car for toddlers in our online store for you to take a look at.

Set Up a Backyard Campout

If you want to push your kids to be more outdoorsy without forcing them on a long camping trip, you can try a backyard campout. Children are much more likely to want to sleep in a tent if it’s in their own backyard since they know it well already. Plus, it will be much safer than the woods, and they can come inside to use the restroom if needed.

Plan a Cookout

Backyard cookouts are one of the top things associated with the smell of summer. Setting up a barbeque with some hot dogs and burgers is an excellent outdoor activity for kids and adults to spend some quality time together. You can even invite some of your neighbors over and make it a party if you think they might be a little jealous of the delicious food you’re cooking.

Go Stargazing Together

If your children are old enough to stay up late, our final exciting outdoor activity to get kids out of the house is to go stargazing with them. Find a wide-open area with not too much light pollution and lay out on the grass. You can even download an app that will tell you which constellations are above you based on your location. It’s definitely much easier to find those than it used to be when we were younger.
